Fugro has entered a partnership agreement with engineering consultancy firm Sweco to provide civil engineering support in the City of Amsterdam. Together, they will support development in three locations in the eastern part of Amsterdam, helping to take the municipality a step closer to achieving its home-building target. With preparations already underway, the partnership agreement runs until April 2021 with an option for four one-year extensions. The City of Amsterdam estimates the contract value at EUR1 million per year. With the goal of building at least 50,000 new homes in the city between 2015 and 2025, Amsterdam has set itself a huge challenge. Fugro and Sweco are providing support in three very different locations: IJburg 2 which is being developed on newly created artificial land, Overamstel which is a former inner-city industrial estate and Zeeburgereiland which is a site with industrial heritage. www.fugro.com
