Five-day disaster risk management workshop in Nairobi

Indepth Research Services (IRES) will be holding a five-day workshop on the use of GIS and remote sensing in disaster risk management in Nairobi from January 11 to 15th.

The course is targeted at professionals who require knowledge and skills in the use of GIS and remote sensing in the field of disaster management. Participants are welcome from a broad range of organisations including physical planning, institutions, professionals, and private GIS and remote sensing-related firms.

By the end of the course, you will be able to: describe and use spatial data, GIS and remote sensing in disaster risk assessment and management; use existing sources of historical disaster information and elements at risk data; apply GIS/remote sensing in hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment; use risk information in emergency preparedness planning; visualise hazard and risk information; and apply GIS/remote sensing to post-disaster damage assessment
