Leamington Spa, UK, 02 November 2016 – Technology company, Yotta has introduced a new next-generation mobile application for the Highways module of its industry-leading asset management software suite, Mayrise. The new app, introduced in response to growing demand, will enable Yotta’s local authority and highways agency clients across the UK to more efficiently manage the end-to-end cycle of reactive maintenance from customer enquiry, through to inspection, works and completion.
“We believe the new Android functionality represents a real-step change for highways maintenance teams across the UK,” says Joe Curran, software development manager, Yotta. “It allows them to raise productivity, slash paper usage, enhance remote access and drive operational efficiencies, enabling them to save time and money as a direct result. The feedback we have received so far for the new app has been universally positive.
“Using the app, teams can, for example, take pictures of a specific defect before the work has been carried out, which can then be automatically associated with the job,” he adds. “It’s so much faster and more efficient than the old approach of taking pictures with a digital camera, going back to the office before manually assigning them to a particular project.”
The new Highways module app brings to three the number of Android OS ready mobile apps, Yotta has introduced for its Mayrise modules over the past year. It follows hard on the heels of the introduction of a new Android OS compatible app for the Mayrise Street Works module earlier this year and a more general Job Management app, introduced in late 2015.
“The Mayrise modules were mobile-capable before but it was much older technology,” explains Curran. “The speed and versatility that Android facilitates has enabled us to significantly enhance the workflow and look and feel of the software, switching it up from a form-based to an intuitive map-based approach.
“It’s worth highlighting also that these new releases are never set in stone. We have a very agile and fluid design process. Yotta is continuously looking at its portfolio and considering ways in which it can be adjusted to deliver enhanced benefits for our clients. We consistently develop new versions with enhanced functionality including additional features and, if necessary, fixes, and this additional capability is rolled out to all users.”
Moving forwards, Yotta has plans in place to also move Mayrise’s street lighting function over to the Android OS. As part of its long-term product roadmap, Yotta also intends to make Mayrise compatible with multiple mobile platforms including iOS and the complete Windows Mobile OS.
