12 December 2016 TomTom has announced the introduction of a new service offered to owners of its navigation devices. The protection plan, called TomTom Extra, has been developed to protect purchases from unexpected events. You can extend your limited warranty period, and protect your TomTom device from accidental damage, theft and loss. The plan also offers a replacement device when needed.
TomTom Extra has initially launched in the UK and is offered in two service levels: TomTom Extra Care, and TomTom Extra Care Plus.
TomTom Extra Care provides:
- International Coverage: Get a replacement sat nav internationally thanks to TomTom's damage cover and worldwide presence.
- Multiple Claims: Claim one sat nav incident per year without voiding your cover on the replacement device.
- Transfer of Cover: Cover stays with device even for a new owner, adding value to your sat nav if you choose to sell it on.
- 24 Month Eligibility: You can buy TomTom Extra Care for your sat nav up to 24 months after the initial purchase of the device.
- Extended Warranty: TomTom Extra Care extends your limited warranty up to 4 years.
TomTom Extra Care Plus provides all the above as well as Loss and Theft Coverage so your sat nav will be replaced if it's been lost or stolen.
TomTom Extra starts from a one-off fee of £8.99.
