The Global Map Printing Trends Report 2017

By [email protected] - 6th July 2017 - 11:15

The decreasing demand for paper maps globally has led to some NMGAs changing their approach to print management and some are currently considering a new business model.

The reduction in demand hinders investment in new technology and new processes. This has resulted in many NMGAs continuing to print maps as they have always done so, which may not be the most efficient or cheapest option. It takes time and financial investment to update to new technologies, or to move to an outsourced provider. However, the UK and Sweden case studies show that changing approach can bring gains in efficiency and cost saving in the long run.

Please find attached a copy of the report summarising the findings from two research studies Ordnance Survey undertook, with NMGAs in Spring 2017; a quantitative survey of thirty seven NMGAs exploring challenges in the map printing industry, and six in-depth interviews to understand how NMGAs have responded to these challenges.
