Springfield, Illinois, Maximizes Efficiency with Cityworks ELA

Sandy, UT – The City of Springfield, IL recently expanded their Cityworks deployment by upgrading to a Premium ELA (Enterprise License Agreement). In a legacy environment of disconnected users, silo applications, and redundant data, Cityworks helped eliminate duplicate datasets and open cross-department communication, making a positive impact throughout their community.

“Cityworks led us to the concept of a GIS-centric Asset Management Solution,” said John Mellor, software specialist at the City of Springfield. “We realized early on that with a GIS-centric AMS tool, we could leverage technology and build the citizen-centric foundation smart communities need.”

Through the Cityworks platform, the city’s public works and information services jointly developed solutions that increase functionality and productivity on multiple levels. For example, many city processes were heavily paper driven. With Cityworks, office personnel are able to update information in the system, and the crews in the field are able to see any changes or additions on their tablets in real time. With access to current information, citizen response is more timely and accurate, whether they call in or speak to staff in the neighborhoods. As a result, Springfield is now streamlining the flow of information electronically, eliminating redundancies and decreasing processing times, saving tax payer dollars.
