January 3, 2017 -- Lead’Air announces significant price savings for the Track’Air MIDAS oblique camera systems as well as a new lower-cost, entry-level ECODAS oblique camera system.

Lead’Air has taken advantage of major improvements and breakthroughs in the manufacturing of the Track’Air MIDAS systems to generate significant savings on the cost of the MIDAS oblique camera system. From an average list price of $350,000USD in 2016 Lead’Air has dropped the price of the standard MIDAS to $210,000USD beginning January 1st, 2017. This price represents a 40% reduction over last year.

Lead’Air is also announcing a new economical MIDAS system called the ECODAS. Priced at just $99,000USD ECODAS is the first turnkey fully operational low-cost oblique camera system in the world.

Since the appearance of online 3D city models around ten years ago, the need for oblique photography has been rapidly growing. It is clear that in 2017 many millions of oblique aerial photos will be collected worldwide to fulfill the craving for stunning and accurate 3D city models or oblique viewing and measuring software. These models are now easily generated with some of the more recently available software programs offered like Skyline, Bentley, Pix4D as well as others.

Oblique camera systems based on an array of five cameras are typically expensive systems. The TrackAir MIDAS which is one of the first and most recognized systems, with over a hundred units in operation worldwide, costs several hundred thousand dollars. Small companies and startups interested in this newly developing market cannot afford to purchase such an expensive system, and we often hear of oblique projects which do not find a suitable bidder. Lead’Air has therefore decided to meet the demand and design an affordable, entry-level oblique camera system based on the proven solutions of our MIDAS system. The principal objective is to be as inexpensive as possible providing access to oblique photography to as many operators as possible.
