Robins & Day Targets Improved Fleet Safety And Performance With Ctrack Vehicle Tracking

Robins & Day, the manufacturer-owned car dealership group, has consolidated its vehicle tracking capabilities with the adoption of an advanced telematics solution from Ctrack by Inseego. Web-based tracking system Ctrack Online will be used to monitor a fleet of 97 vans within the organisation’s nationwide parts distribution network to improve road safety, reduce fuel usage and support duty of care. The system will be integrated with Robins & Day’s route planning and optimisation software to make better use of its available fleet resources.

Robins & Day had previously used a number of telematics tools, including Ctrack Online, to monitor the vans operating from sites in Manchester, Birmingham, Derby, Bristol and Slough. To improve centralised visibility and control over its vehicles, Robins & Day took the decision to roll-out a single system across the entire fleet. Following a review of three leading solutions, Ctrack Online was chosen along with its Driver ID module and Executive Dashboard application.

“Our Ctrack solution will provide added insight into the performance of our fleet, with highly-accurate, driver-level data available in a user-friendly format,” explains Ian Botham, Group Parts Operations Manager at Robins & Day. “This means our central team will have full visibility over all our vehicles, with controlled access to the system for site managers and other senior executives. As a result, we will now be able to effectively support our duty of care strategy and further optimise our parts distribution operation.”

Robins & Day incentivises its employees to drive safely, efficiently and responsibly as part of its duty of care commitment. Moving forward, the company will use the Ctrack Driver Performance Report to analyse driver behaviour data and help calculate individual scores, with employees placed in one of three safety bands. With Driver ID, Robins & Day will be able to separate the driver and vehicle data to capture insight into the exact movements and actions of each employee.

The integration of the vehicle tracking system to Robins & Day’s routing and scheduling software will enable the parts distribution team to utilise planned versus actual performance monitoring and reporting. With fixed daily routes supplying 150 Groupe PSA dealers, as well as regular deliveries to up to 6,000 body shops and independent repairers, the company is looking to gain real-time visibility of how drivers are performing against plan. This will allow Robins & Day to keep customers informed of any potential issues or delays and identify areas of operational improvements within the fleet operation.

“We have worked closely with the Ctrack team to effectively roll-out the vehicle tracking system and combine it with our internal processes. We are already seeing driver behaviour improvements across the fleet – with almost half of the drivers now in our top safety band – and we looked forward to achieving further performance benefits as it becomes embedded within our operation,” concluded Ian Botham.

Steve Thomas, Managing Director of Ctrack by Inseego commented: “Our vehicle tracking system is designed to be simple and easy to use, so organisations such as Robins & Day can quickly access the critical information they need. This combined with our partnership approach means we can use our considerable experience to create advanced solutions that deliver significant fleet benefits and help improve our customers’ businesses.”
