SilviLaser 2021 is the 17th conference in a series focused on the applications of LiDAR and related technologies for assessing and managing forest ecosystems and will take place as HYBRID EVENT from September 27 – October 1, 2021 at the InterContinental Wien and online.
The conference is organized by TU Wien together with the company Umweltdata and supported by RIEGL as the STAR sponsor of the event.
RIEGL will showcase their high-performance equipment, present their efficient software solutions, and give an insight into their developments in forestry in Room Vivaldi 2. Don’t miss the chance to meet our experts on site and to discuss possible solutions especially suited for your tasks!
Based on most innovative and proprietary Waveform-LiDAR technology RIEGL laser scanners and systems provide an outstanding high-density point cloud ideally suited for applications in forestry. Advanced processing algorithms account for a full exploitation of the information included in scan data. Multi-target capability enables excellent vegetation penetration and the computing of detailed terrain models. Point classification is the basis for growth monitoring, height modeling, or the detection of deadfall.
We will use SilviLaser 2021 to demonstrate the performance and special features of our scanners and systems on the different platforms offered by the conference.
The data acquisition (scan records) will take place on 27th of September and the 1st of October 2021 near Vienna. The focus of this scanning benchmark is put on all available LiDAR systems that are currently used for forestry applications. During the measurements, a camera team will film the work and the recordings will be made available to all conference and benchmark participants on the conference homepage. Depending on overall circumstances, preliminary results will be presented on 30th of September in a plenary session.
RIEGL plays an important role here: The reference data for the benchmark are acquired prior to the conference by airborne laser scanning with the RIEGL VQ-1560 II and by UAV-based laser scanning with the RIEGL VUX-120.
And of course, RIEGL will compare itself directly with other suppliers in the benchmark!
