Microsoft solves the vehicle routing problem

By [email protected] - 5th July 2018 - 09:51

Microsoft has added new geospatial services and solutions to Bing Maps, its worldwide enterprise mapping platform

For any business needing routing and fleet management, the new Distance Matrix API uses algorithmic routing tools including predictive traffic to calculate distances and travel times between multiple origins and destinations. The service provides route optimisation for logistics requirements such as time windows, pickup and delivery locations, vehicle capacity, multiple depots, split deliveries, backhauls, and more. Complex queries are supported, and results can be converted into a list of waypoints that will generate the optimum route to ensure a vehicle or fleet reaches all the planned destinations in the minimum time and distance.

Bing Maps Distance Matrix API helps customers optimise performance and effectively plan, monitor, and utilise assets to save time and reduce transportation costs. Grey Matter provides licensing expertise as the sole Microsoft Bing Maps distributor for EMEA and APAC.
