Do you want to capture the interior of a building in 3D? Or perhaps you need to capture a great rail bridge across open water or maybe the complex topography of the Scottish Highlands for mapping. Capturing the reality of these scenes at a moment time and in any weather, can now be done with accuracy so good that reliable geospatial measurements can be taken from the digital data.
Visitors and seminar attendees have a unique opportunity during two days in May to learn about the current state of the art of this remarkable 21st century non-contact technology at the free to attend Laser Scanning Seminar session:
- The Laser Scanning seminar session will be showcasing a series of presentations from leading experts around the application of laser scanners, the point cloud data they produce, the road, rail or airborne platforms they can be mounted upon and importantly, the commercial benefits for end users.
- Laser scanners and their airborne equivalent LiDAR, have become the survey tool of choice. Whether for capturing trackside assets on railway lines, highways, tunnels, aerial and mobile mapping, inspection of inaccessible infrastructure locations, the heritage sector, forensic accident investigations and other industry sectors, the laser captured point cloud is an essential and accurate record of reality.
- In the construction sector terrestrial laser scanning has become a reliable tool for surveyors providing architects, engineers and project managers with dimensionally accurate “as-built” 3D scenes. The increasing use of BIM – Building Information Modelling – for construction projects has also provided an ideal application for laser scanners to record as-built scenes.
- Point cloud data from laser scanners is also at the heart of creating the Government’s vision of a Digital Built Britain as well as for emerging techniques like Construction Validation and Virtual Design & Construction. Truly a tool of the future, today.
