Juniper Systems Limited Welcomes Brian Smyth

‘We’re excited to have Brian join Juniper Systems Limited’, said Simon Bowe, General Manager of Juniper Systems Limited near Birmingham, U.K. ‘He brings broad and deep experience in engineering and technical support, and has an excellent customer service approach. We’re confident that he will service our customers well’.

Brian is an experienced electrical and test engineer and technical support manager. Starting his career at various electronics/IT companies, he ultimately landed at T. Morgan Engineering, working for 6 years on bespoke automation and control systems. He then worked on covert audio, video and surveillance equipment at Sonic Communications International, before moving to Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe, Ltd.

At Fujitsu, Brian worked in electrical engineering and as a Post Design Support Engineer, on both hardware and software/telecoms products. He was awarded the Extra Mile Gold Award for his design of test equipment for Fujitsu’s core manufacturing products. Typically given to employees going above and beyond in their normal job role, Brian expanded beyond his job function and applied his skills and knowledge to produce a product that immediately and positively impacted the business. His hard work and innovation was recognised for that extra mile.

Brian then spent 6 years at Nortec Solutions, Ltd., as Technical Support Manager, where he dealt with a massive customer base which included military, defence, and small manufacturers, and managed all technical and design work. Brian also has broad experience in technical customer support, interacting with customers during his various roles, working to identify and resolve issues and providing quotes. He has mentored several apprentices, managed engineering teams, and planned resources.

While he thoroughly enjoyed his time at the large and well-known Fujitsu, Brian commented, ‘I’ve gained most of my experience in the smaller companies where I have to spread myself more and expand into unexplored areas’. He is very happy to have joined a relatively smaller organisation such as Juniper Systems Limited in the U.K. ‘It’s great to work with a smaller team and know that I am contributing in a significant way’, he said.

Brian holds a bachelor of engineering with honors degree in electronic engineering, and a bachelor of science degree with honors in information and communications technology, the latter being self-funded and self-driven, earned through The Open University.
