The International Lidar Mapping Forum (ILMF) has announced that Tara O’Shea, Director of Forest Programs at Planet, will give a keynote presentation titled Combining Remote Sensing & Analytics Technologies: Emerging Environmental Applications. This highly anticipated keynote, the first of several available to both ILMF and the co-located ASPRS Annual Conference attendees, will kick off three days of conference programming on March 23, 2020, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
During her presentation, Tara will examine the explosion in the availability of remotely sensed data over the past decade and its impact on emerging environmental and climate applications. Tara will also showcase applications that combine Planet's unique global dataset with lidar data to create innovative capabilities in monitoring forest carbon stocks and emissions, mapping wildfire risk, and more. A full description of the keynote can be viewed here.
“We take immense pride in organizing a conference program that is highly technical in principle,” states Lisa Murray, Group Director at Diversified Communications. “So, whenever we identify a presentation that not only meets those technical standards but is also topical, in the way that Tara’s presentation is relevant to wildfires and climate change, it’s an obvious inclusion.”
With a background in sustainable land use and climate change, Tara O’Shea serves as the Director of Forest Programs at Planet where she oversees the company's strategy for leveraging its Earth observation capacity to help improve the world's ability to monitor global forests today - and account for the value of forests in the global economy tomorrow.
