Huntsville, Alabama, November 15, 2017 – A public safety app from Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure that improves the efficiency and safety of first responders is featured in the Microsoft patrol car this week at Smart City Expo World Congress, the leading international event for smart cities. The combined technologies demonstrate how cloud-based and connected solutions can make cities safer and police more productive.
Hexagon’s Intergraph Mobile Responder provides mobile dispatching workflows for first responders via a native app for Microsoft Windows devices. It is installed on a rugged laptop and displayed on a touchscreen in the Microsoft patrol car, a platform for cloud-connected digital patrol solutions that improve incident response and public safety.
During Smart City Expo World Congress, Hexagon is demonstrating how its portfolio works across three areas essential to every smart city: digital, safe and connected. A Microsoft CityNext partner, Hexagon is featuring its safe city capabilities, including mobile working solutions that empower personnel and increase situational awareness while enhancing efficiency and service delivery.
“With safe city-ready components that easily plug into new or existing information technologies and solutions, Hexagon can help customers advance their capabilities and deliver on safe city goals,” said Kalyn Sims, chief technology officer, Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure. “Safe cities are all about connectivity and collaboration. The Microsoft patrol car, featuring Intergraph Mobile Responder, provides a significant leap forward for law enforcement operations.”
Earlier this year, Hexagon selected Microsoft Azure as the cloud platform for its next-generation public safety and security products. These products will help improve public safety performance through highly productive, easy-to-use interfaces and workflows that are simple to deploy and maintain via Azure.
“Microsoft is excited to partner with Hexagon to help drive the next wave of innovative connected city solutions,” said Trudy Norris-Grey, managing director, Microsoft CityNext. “As technology and urbanization continue to change the way governments interact with citizens, Microsoft CityNext is leveraging the trusted Azure platform to help cities remain connected and offer problem-solving solutions.
