The LiBackpack 50 integrates LiDAR with SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) technology, providing seamless real-time SLAM registration and scanning capabilities in various environments.
Utilizing real-time point cloud data that streams to any device, the system delivers rapid understanding of the 3D environment and the user interface offers instant data information such as trajectory, loop closure and time-stamp. Functional in handheld and backpack modes, the LiBackpack 50 offers versatility across applications such as forestry and stockpile volumetrics.
The second system, the LiBackpack D50, comprises two Velodyne VLP-16 LiDAR sensors, capturing twice as many points and assisting GreenValley’s SLAM algorithm in providing both accuracy and more robust scanning.
The integration of dual-laser sensors enhances three-dimensional features within the point cloud, especially at ranges of >50 meters. Liam Maier, GreenValley International’s Solutions Engineer said: “With the LiBackpack series there’s a tool for every job. Both products offer many advantages, with the 50 providing versatility and convenience in its handsfree mode, and the D50, with its enhanced scanning range, is perfect for outdoor environments where other mobile handheld scanners might fail.”
Both systems are contained in durable, lightweight housing, lending itself to accurately scanning vast areas for up to two hours. Both systems require only a minimal learning curve, as no complex registration or post-processing software is required.
