GMV teams up with +Atlantic CoLAB in the AIR4Health project

By Eric Van Rees - 3rd February 2025 - 16:40

GMV, renowned for its expertise in systems and services integration, has been chosen to participate in the AIR4Health project.

Led by +ATLANTIC CoLAB, a Portuguese non-profit R&D collaborative laboratory, the goal of the project is to create an operational service for public health. GMV’s contribution is based on its proven track record in systems integration and the implementation of services.

This service will be hosted on DESP (Destination Core Service Platform), a platform managed by the European Space Agency (ESA) as part of the Destination Earth initiative’s system. This will be the first time that GMV participates in a data twin project in the Earth Observation (EO) field, marking a historic milestone for the company.

The project, called AIR4Health, is a response to the significant increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme temperatures in Portugal and Europe in recent decades. These phenomena have led to high levels of mortality and morbidity while also exacerbating the degradation of air quality, with serious consequences for health and society.

GMV’s job in the project is to automate the acquisition of input sources in order to create the processing chain, integrate the algorithmic modules through GMV Prodigi, and deploy them in DESP.
