This year’s motto ‘geospatial@online’ focuses on the universal and pervasive introduction of geospatial concepts and methods: have we completed the transition to online GI Services? Are we ready for GI Services 2.0, i.e. dynamic applications built on existing GI Services? Do we educate for these developments at school level? GI_Forum 2017 addresses such questions in the context of big data, sensors, real time data streams, geodata infrastructures and cloud computing, bearing in mind perspectives from a variety of domains. Paper presentations as well as workshops and exhibits are welcome.
Spatial Sciences today contribute to a more just, ethical and sustainable society. Prominent keynote speakers will highlight new developments, offer visionary insights into trends and developments, and at the same time be individually accessible for our Young Researchers.
GI_Forum annually attracts around 1,000 international participants and is organized by the University of Salzburg, under the coordination of the Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS and in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences. It runs concurrently with the highly regarded German language conference on Applied Geoinformatics – AGIT. The two symposia share the innovative AGIT EXPO exhibit and stimulating social Events.
