MAYSVILLE, Kentucky, U.S.A. (September 2017) — With the new Carlson Tesseract Engine, millions of data points can be processed at a much higher rate of speed making Carlson Point Cloud a very beneficial tool for surveyors and engineers.
Carlson Point Cloud provides the ability to read cloud data from laser scanners and drones in multiple formats, clean and simplify that data, and extract TINs, Contours, Profiles and Cross Sections. What sets Carlson Point Cloud apart is the ability to create 2D and 3D graphics and draw them directly in CAD as a direct export or via Carlson Field-to-Finish making the process a familiar and seamless operation. Carlson Point Cloud opens directly from a CAD drawing, therefore there is no lag time between processing the cloud and preparing a drawing.
Along with improved data extraction and drawing features, the top features of Carlson Point Cloud 2018 include:
- The new Tesseract database and graphic with faster processing capabilities
- Improved cloud registration including the ability to transform and scale the cloud
- An enhanced ‘Bare Earth’ feature that uses a grid analysis method
- The ability to read in a Carlson MXS file for cross section alignments for a seamless method of extracting cross sections from existing survey or engineering design files
- The ability to create a 3D solid from a cloud
Along with Carlson Point Cloud for 2018, Carlson Software is also releasing the 2018 versions of Carlson Survey, Carlson Civil, Carlson GIS, and Carlson Hydrology, which, together make up the Carlson Civil Suite. Carlson’s 2018 release also includes: Carlson Field, Carlson Mining, Carlson Construction, Carlson GeoTech, Carlson CADnet, and Carlson Trench (these last four make up the Carlson Takeoff Suite), and Carlson Natural Regrade, all featuring their own industry-specific improvements.
