EUMETSAT always knew its new control room for its geostationary satellites was a winner – but now it’s official.
SWiCA Conference Technology today won the Prolight + Sound Sinus Systems Integration Award for its work on EUMETSAT’s new control room.
The control room incorporates the latest technology to provide a more flexible, energy-efficient and secure workplace that is also more dynamic and productive for spacecraft and ground segment controllers.
The upgrade was necessary as EUMETSAT prepares for major new programmes with the launches of next-generation fleets of satellites from 2021.
EUMETSAT’s Head of Generic Systems and Infrastructure Graziano Mori and Infrastructure and Network Services Manager Peter Muellner accepted the prize along with SWiCA’s Markus Schürmann, Rudolf Skowronek and Stephan Bugler.
“EUMETSAT is very proud of the new control room and what it represents in terms of efficiency and the organisation’s future,” Mori said.
“We congratulate SWiCA on winning this award and wish them every success for the future.”
Schürmann said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to work on a project like this, so a big thank-you to EUMETSAT for this great project!
“Customisation and a user and service-friendly solution is our core approach and it makes us all happy to receive recognition like this.”
