REDLANDS, Calif.—March 7, 2019—Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, today announced that it will sponsor the Mayor Byron W. Brown's Civic Innovation Eco Challenge at the Civic Innovation Jam on Saturday, March 9, in Buffalo, New York. The event will include a hands-on workshop dedicated to building a sustainable Buffalo. The Civic Innovation Eco Challenge seeks to generate ideas and submit innovative projects that build on the City of Buffalo's sustainability efforts by harnessing the power of data and technology.
The Civic Innovation Eco Challenge will focus on how to make Buffalo a better and greener place to live, work, and play. The hands-on workshop will inform participants about the competition, conduct a brainstorm of solutions, and empower attendees to learn how to best use technology to improve Buffalo's local community for today and tomorrow. Esri will conduct a workshop from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on ArcGIS for Developers, a full suite of tools and resources for building mapping and advanced analytics solutions. Developers use ArcGIS APIs to create location-based web and native applications for desktop and mobile devices.
"Esri is honored to be chosen as one of the sponsors for this event," says Gerard Aiken, Esri account manager. "Our location intelligence solutions are used by cities across the globe, and sponsoring the Civic Innovation Eco Challenge gives us the opportunity to continue our history of supporting innovation across the public sector, especially by educating users about our developer tools."
ArcGIS for Developers provides an enhanced mapping experience that is now more accessible and affordable. Changes include a pay-as-you-go plan for all of Esri's location-based services, a decrease in the price of transaction routing solutions, and a new commercial app deployment experience for developers.
Esri will award Civic Innovation Eco Challenge participants up to 50 developer voucher certificates—each worth 1,000 credits—that will grant access to Esri's developer tools at no cost to teams. A grand prize winner will also be awarded $1,000 for best use of the Esri platform.
