CTRACK HELPS PROTECT NORFOLK’S OLDEST WORKING MOTOR CAR

Norfolk’s oldest working motor car has been fitted with an advanced wireless tracking device from Ctrack by Inseego.

Norfolk Museums Services has installed the Ctrack BX600 unit to provide added security and peace of mind when the Panhard et Levassor, built in Paris in 1899, is housed at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, near Dereham, or away at local events.

“This is a valuable and much-loved heritage motor vehicle, enjoyed by many thousands of residents and visitors to Norfolk, so it is essential for us to know it is safe and secure at all times,” explains Megan Dennis, curator at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse. “As the Panhard et Levassor has no electricity source of its own, we needed a simple and easy-to-use tracking device that possessed a long battery life. We have found the Ctrack BX600 unit to be perfect for our needs.”

The Panhard et Levassor is a dark blue four-cylinder vehicle - once owned by Charles Rolls co-founder of Rolls Royce – which has been based at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse since 1996. Norfolk Museums Services selected the Ctrack BX600 to replace a previous tracking system and the device has been fitted by Ctrack reseller P & P Fleet Solutions. The ultra-compact size – measuring just 97mm in length – and lightweight nature of the unit has meant it has been easily and discreetly concealed out of sight on the vehicle.

Steve Thomas, Managing Director of Ctrack UK by Inseego commented: “Our wide range of battery-powered telematics devices means we have a solution available for any type of vehicle or unpowered asset, even for one of the world’s oldest working motor car. Our unrivalled expertise means we are best-placed to meet the tracking needs for all applications, providing the highest levels of visibility and control.”

The Ctrack BX600 is a rechargeable GPS unit with a battery life of up to six months on a single charge. It has been designed to track vehicles and assets where long battery life is required without sacrificing the frequency of updates. With a robust, high-capacity battery, this model can be easily recharged via USB. The BX600 also features a light sensor, which works as a tamper detector for cargo tracking applications.
