COMIT 2017 Mobilising Digital Assets

By [email protected] - 13th June 2017 - 17:05

The venue, good weather and great agenda conspired to make this one of COMIT’s most successful conferences to date. With 130 delegates from 70 organisations we had two days of thoroughly interactive learning and networking

Day one was jointly chaired by John Pelton MBE from CH2M and Chrissi McCarthy from Constructing Equality. It started with a keynote by Mark Bew MBE, Chairman of the UK BIM Task Group. Mark set the scene on innovation and mobilising digital assets with the move to Level 3 BIM. The day continued with a number of great presentations and panel sessions.

We had a number of exhibitors and technology on hand for delegates to try out and a soirée after the end of day one. This was free for all delegates and gave them the opportunity to continue discussions and networking in a relaxed atmosphere over drinks and canapés.
Day two was chaired by Esra Kurul of Oxford Brookes University and Phil Jackson, an independent consultant and familiar face to COMIT regulars.

Kenny Ingram of IFS set the tone in a review of the digital evolution of the construction industry, which put some UK projects into an international context. This picked up a theme raised by Esra in her introduction and the international nature of construction innovation was a theme that reoccurred throughout the day.

Photographs and presentations from the conference can be found on the COMIT website.
