This bi-annual evening seminar and networking event was hosted by renowned engineering consultancy Arup and it took place at their global headquarters in London on Monday 15th October at the start of Digital Construction Week.
At the British Information Modelling event speakers from international contractor Mace and engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald shared the stage with start-ups Aphex, Converge and 3D Repo. All were expertly chaired by Graham Aldwinkle, Associate Director at Arup. The event concluded with questions from the floor and a lively panel discussion which focused on open systems and integrated data.
The eagerly-awaited SafetiBase, an online platform for the tracking and analysis of health and safety issues, was also debuted. SafetiBase is a new cloud-based repository which uses existing best of breed solutions, including 3D Repo’s award-winning platform for Building Information Modelling (BIM), to improve risk management.
Supported by a consortium of leading innovators in the infrastructure sector, including Atkins, Mott MacDonald, Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Costain, Vinci, Bentley Systems, UCL, HS2, Tideway and The IET through the Knowledge Transfer Network and I3P, SafetiBase improves the communication and visualisation of health, safety and welfare risks saving projects time and money.
“This was a busy week in the built environment sector with lots of events, so we were pleased to have such an impressive turnout at the sixth British Information Modelling event,” commented Jozef Dobos, CEO of 3D Repo and speaker at the event. “As usual the speakers were informative and engaging and I am sure the debate about open systems continued long after the seminar finished.”
“The team behind SafetiBase, including 3D Repo, is also really pleased with the response from the industry both from delegates at the seminar and visitors to the DCW exhibition,” he continued. “It would appear that risk management and mitigation remain one of the biggest challenges for construction projects and SafetiBase will provide a structured, connected yet simple to use solution.”
3D Repo was also present at Digital Construction Week, with 5 members of staff welcoming guests on a stand at the ExCel London in Canary Wharf. Product Manager Pavol Knapo hosted a BIM for the Brave workshop and CEO Dr Jozef Dobos spoke on a panel about “The Transforming Construction Challenge”.
