Arithmetica’s Pointfuse V2 to Power Point Cloud Conversion in Arena4D

By [email protected] - 6th October 2016 - 14:01

Key development promises to make point cloud data processing easier, quicker - with improved 3D vector model output

Point cloud software specialists Pointfuse and Veesus have formed a partnership that will see the addition of the newly released Pointfuse V2 Point Cloud Conversion Engine to the Veesus Arena4D product range. Representing a step change in the way that laser scanned point clouds are converted into three dimensional vector models, the Pointfuse V2 Point Cloud Conversion Engine will enable users of Arena4D Data Studio and Plugin for Rhino to quickly, easily and accurately convert all or any part of the billions of individually laser scanned measurements contained within a typical point cloud.

Offering the “one button” approach, the new techniques in Pointfuse V2 not only convert point clouds into 3D vector models with accurate geometry, but also enable the discrete surfaces in these models to be isolated and manipulated in third party software, such as Rhino, to a greater extent than before.

Both companies will be exhibiting at INTERGEO 2016, the world’s leading conference and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, which takes place on 11-13 October in Hamburg, Germany. Arithmetica will be showcasing the newly release Pointfuse V2 at booth D1.050 in Hall A1, while Veesus will be presenting the enhanced functionality of the Arena4D product suite at booth D1.049, also in Hall A1.

“This is an exciting development for users of Arena4D as it is the first time the advanced functionality of the newly released Pointfuse V2 has been commercially available,” commented Mark Senior, Business Development Manager at Arithmetica – the company behind Pointfuse. “Pointfuse V2 is set to revolutionize the way we generate, manipulate and use vector data, and focus on results, allowing end users to concentrate on the destination rather than the journey. We are looking forward to launching the full product and demonstrating its functionality at INTERGEO.”

Mark Estcourt, Managing Director of Veesus, added, “The inclusion of the newly released Pointfuse V2 Point Cloud Engine within the Arena4D product range will have immediate and wide ranging benefits for our users. It will allow them to analyze a specific part of a point cloud, such as pipes or walls, allow for easier surface and edge determination for reverse engineering purposes, and will provide an environment that can be used to determine view-shed analysis and line of sight calculations.”
