The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and the Association for Geographic Information are delighted to announce the appointment of Tom Flude as their new Senior Public Affairs Manager. This is a co-funded role which serves the needs of both organisations.
Tom will help us to further a shared vision and mission to ensure that geography and geographic information is recognised as an important enabler in the world of big data that surrounds us in the digital economy, and is used more widely across the public, private and third sectors.
Tom will help us to champion a better understanding of geography and the benefits of applying geographic information and associated skills, technology and application in both traditional and newly emerging areas and increased geographical analysis and interpretation to achieve positive business, public service and societal impacts.
Tom will also provide a strong voice for our aim of ensuring a sufficient future supply of well-trained specialists who understand and can contribute to the geographical analysis and interpretation of data to meet the needs of employers and the digital economy within the context of the skills agenda and professionalism in the workforce.
Tom brings extensive policy, strategy and public affairs experience from the public sector, and from nonprofit organisations.
