The proposed facility improvements include the introduction of a new ferry and associated berth works at both terminals. Work on the new terminal will begin in autumn 2016 to install the new boarding ramp to enable more efficient and quieter disembarking of vehicles.
ABPmer provided advice on marine environmental issues for the Wightlink project team throughout the development of this proposal (a key component of Wightlink’s wider upgrade of their Portsmouth to Fishbourne ferry service).
ABPmer assessed the coastal process and marine ecology impacts as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment as well as preparing the required Habitat Regulations and Water Framework Directive Assessments. The company also helped develop appropriate mitigation and monitoring commitemtns in consultation with the regulators and Natural England.
