Mariam Crichton, Managing Director of international earth observation company 4 Earth Intelligence (4EI), has been selected to join the panel of judges for the Tech Nation Rising Stars growth programme.
Rising Stars is an exciting competition for innovative, early-stage tech companies and provides a comprehensive support platform for applicants complete with training and promotion. Mariam, who has nearly twenty years of management experience in digital, media and geoinformation, with a specific focus on scaling up innovative tech companies, joins representatives from organisations including Barclays, Deloitte, Queens University Belfast and Edinburgh Innovations.
“I am honoured to be on the judging panel for the Tech Nation Rising Stars 3.0 competition. I hope to bring the geospatial industry to the forefront of the tech world, injecting best practice and entrepreneurial growth into the geospatial sector,” commented Mariam Crichton, Managing Director of 4 Earth Intelligence. “From my own experience, opportunities such as this, can transform an early-stage tech company with a comprehensive support package and the opportunity for successful applicants to put their business in front of potential investors, influencers and corporates.
She continued, “As the Managing Director of a company that is already transitioning from start-up to scale-up, in a sector that has a crucial role to play in providing data for ESG (environmental, social and governance) sustainable investment decision making, my appointment bridges the gap between the geospatial and tech sectors, increasing the awareness of the powerful insights geospatial data can provide.”
4EI provides data for ESG sustainable decision making. ESG criteria are a set of standards considered for a company’s operations by socially conscious investors during the investment decision-making process. Particularly in recent years, investors are increasingly interested in venture capital which inlines with their own personal values, using ESG criteria to screen potential investments or when evaluating their current assets.
“Now more than ever, it is important that the companies we support through our Tech Nation growth programmes learn from their peers as well as those who have scaled digital companies such as Mariam,” said Esme Caulfield, Competitions Lead at Tech Nation.
Applications for the Tech Nation Rising Stars 3.0 competition are now open and close on the 20th October 2020. Rising Stars 3.0 is a UK nation-wide scaleup completion, designed to be accessible to the best early-stage tech companies from all areas of the country. Find out more here.
