3D Repo, the company behind leading cloud software solutions for collaborative Building Information Modelling (BIM), has been successful in its application to the UK government’s cloud procurement service G-Cloud.
Designed to help public sector organisations source cloud based solutions and services, G-Cloud provides agreement with suppliers, such as 3D Repo, that mean government buyers don’t need to run full tender processes when securing cloud solutions. 3D Repo was successful in its application to the latest iteration of the online service, G-Cloud 9, which was launched this week and features enhanced search capabilities to help users find and shortlist suppliers with relevant services.
“3D Repo is already involved in a number of government-led infrastructure projects, and acceptance to G-Cloud is a major milestone in developing our existing relationships whilst developing new connections and contracts with other public sector bodies,” commented 3D Repo’s CEO, Dr Jozef Dobos. “Solutions that make it easier for the client to identify and engage with potential suppliers, especially on major and complex infrastructure projects, such as highways and railway, will ultimately contribute to cost and time savings.”
The Digital Marketplace is an online store that allows public sector bodies to search for services covered by G-Cloud framework agreements. Launched in 2012, the service has undergone several iterations, the latest of which, G-Cloud 9, launched on the 22nd May 2017 with 2,847 suppliers. In government published figures, total spending through the service up to October 2016 was £1.57 billion.
3D Repo, a spinout from University College London, is a multi-award winning company offering a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for BIM in the cloud. Instead of architects, consultants and contractors sharing massive proprietary files in a costly and time consuming manner, they can simply point their web browser to an encrypted knowledge base in order to examine each project stage virtually, even on mobile devices. Additionally, the project knowledge base can be accessed via VR, giving a live experience which has applications in Health and Safety training and client experiences.
The 3D Repo team has collaborated on a number of large scale projects with companies such as ARUP, Balfour Beatty, Highways England, Skanska, Crossrail and Canary Wharf.
